Every plan, reflection, and note lives on your device. We don't operate servers that store your data.
No accounts, no analytics SDKs, no ads, no third-party trackers. We can't see what you do in the app.
One tap in Settings wipes everything — from your device and iCloud. No "account closure" form.
Your data stays on your phone
Tryst is built with privacy at its core. All your date plans, reflections, partner profiles, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate servers that store your personal data.
In plain terms: if your phone's offline, the app still works — because everything it needs is already there.
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, your Tryst data may sync across your Apple devices via Apple's CloudKit. This data is encrypted and managed by Apple — Tryst does not have access to your iCloud data. You can disable iCloud sync for Tryst in your device's Settings › iCloud.
What we don't collect
- No account creation required — no email, no password, no phone number
- No analytics or tracking SDKs (no Firebase, no Amplitude, no third-party trackers)
- No advertising or ad networks
- No location data sent to our servers (venue searches use Apple MapKit directly)
- No social media integration that shares your data
What stays on your device
- Your date plans, reflections, and scores
- Partner names, preferences, and survey responses
- Recommendation engine data and learning signals
- Notification preferences and schedules
- All imported or custom date ideas
Calendar & contacts
Tryst may request access to your calendar to add date events. Calendar data is only used to create events you explicitly request — we never read or store your existing calendar entries. Contact access is never requested.
Location
Tryst uses your location only when you search for nearby venues in the planning wizard. Location data is sent directly to Apple's MapKit service for search results — it is never sent to Tryst servers or stored beyond the current session.
Notifications
Tryst sends local notifications (date reminders, reflection prompts, check-ins) scheduled on your device. These do not involve any server communication.
Sharing
When you share a date plan or recap card, the content is generated locally on your device and shared via iOS's standard share sheet. Tryst does not track or store what you share or with whom.
Children's privacy
Tryst requires users to be at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. The app includes an age gate during onboarding that prevents minors from using the app.
Data deletion
You can delete all your data at any time via Settings › Account & Data › Delete Account & Data. This permanently removes all local data. If iCloud sync is enabled, data is also removed from iCloud.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
