How Tryst Works

You pick the night. Tryst builds the plan.

Tryst doesn’t rate restaurants or rank places with stars. It organizes places and ideas around the kind of date you’re planning — then turns your pick into a real plan you can send to your partner.

One decision, not fifty

Most apps hand you a list and wish you luck. Tryst asks the way a friend would: what kind of night is this? Everything else — the idea, the place, the timing, the checklist — follows from that one answer.

The seven steps, start to finish

Here’s the whole path, from “we should do something” to a night you’ll remember:

  1. Pick your date. Choose the vibe and the kind of night — easy in, thoughtful, or all-out.
  2. Personalize the plan. Set the budget, the occasion, anything that makes it yours.
  3. Discover venues. Tryst finds real places nearby that fit — or, in curated cities, hand-picked spots.
  4. Build your date. A place, timing, a checklist, and a thoughtful touch come together into an evening.
  5. Share with your partner. One tap sends the whole plan to their phone. No account either side.
  6. Enjoy your date. Everything’s decided, so you can just be there.
  7. Reflect afterward. Note how it went — privately — and your next suggestions get more personal.

Planning modes

The first thing Tryst asks is how much you want this night to be:

Easy Night In

Low effort, still on purpose. A real plan for staying home instead of another shrug at the couch.

Thoughtful Date

A planned night out that says I thought about you — without needing a special reason.

All-Out Experience

The big one. Anniversaries, milestones, the night you want to get exactly right.

Surprise Me

Hand Tryst the decision. It picks; you show up.

Vibes, budget, and occasion

Tryst matches its 550+ handcrafted date ideas against the same few answers, so the app finds the night you want instead of making you scroll. (More on how Tryst categorizes places.)

Vibe — the mood you’re going for:

Budget — every idea carries one, so a broke week can still be a good week:

Occasion — birthdays, anniversaries (Tryst even remembers first-date anniversaries), Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, holidays — or just because. Just-because is the one that changes relationships.

“Why This Date”

When Tryst suggests an idea, it tells you why — up to three plain-English reasons based on what you’ve told it about your partner and the dates you’ve actually completed. There’s no secret score and no paid placement. If the reasons don’t ring true, you pick something else and Tryst learns from that too.

A five-star place can still be a two-star date. The question is never “is it good?” It’s “is it right for this night?”

Where the places come from

When you want somewhere nearby, Tryst searches Apple Maps first, with Google Places as backup — and only when you ask it to. Nothing runs in the background.

In covered cities, we go further: hand-curated date spots that we’ve visited or personally vetted, classified by the type of date they’re right for. Venues can’t buy a spot on that list, and there are no crowdsourced reviews. Huntsville, Alabama is live today; more cities are coming.

Private by design

Your plans, notes, and reflections live on your device and in your own private iCloud — we never see them. No account to create, nothing to sign up for — and we don’t track you.

See what it picks for you.
