Product Philosophy

The beliefs Tryst is built on.

Every product decision in Tryst comes back to a few convictions about what actually makes date night work. Here they are, plainly.

01

Tryst plans dates, not places.

A place is an ingredient. A date is the whole evening: where you go, when, what you do there, the small thoughtful thing, and what comes next. Tryst’s job is the evening, not the pin on a map.

02

Context matters more than ratings.

A 4.7-star restaurant tells you people liked the food. It doesn’t tell you whether you can hear each other, whether it fits this week’s budget, or whether it’s right for a quiet Tuesday. A five-star place can still be a two-star date. Tryst reads the context a rating can’t.

03

Recommendations should be explainable.

When Tryst suggests something, it tells you why, in plain language. No black box, no secret score, no paid placement. If the reasons don’t ring true, you pick something else, and Tryst learns from that too.

04

Good planning removes decision fatigue.

The spark doesn’t die in a fight. It dies in a shrug — “what do you want to do?” “I don’t know, what do you want to do?” A list of options just relocates the deciding. Tryst makes the call for you, so the effort goes into the evening, not the choosing.

05

Curation is judgment, and it isn’t for sale.

In the cities Tryst curates by hand, every place was visited or personally vetted — never crowdsourced, never paid. A venue can’t buy its way in. That’s what makes the picks worth trusting.

06

Privacy is the default, not a setting.

Your plans, notes, and reflections live on your device and your own private iCloud. No account to create. We don’t track you. Your relationship isn’t data we’re mining.

Built on these. Try it.
